A Puddling Butterfly

Image
When it comes to the world of photography these two photos would be considered bad. Both lack good composition and the lighting isn't very good. In the world on insect photography it is also bad. Mainly due to the fact its hard to properly identify what type of butterfly is in these photos. After spending way to long trying to figure out the species, I have come to the conclusion that this is a pearl crescent butterfly. Though to be honest there is a very good chance my conclusion is wrong so feel free to correct me.  I believe these photos serve as a good reminder that at the end of the day I'm still an armature photographer. There not very good but that ok since I still find them interesting to look at. Normally it can be a bit tricky when trying to capture a photo of a butterfly. Luckily for me, this one decided it didn't feel like moving and allowed me to take a bunch of...

A Mother Robin

Image
A few months ago I found out that a robin had built a nest in a small tree right next to my house. At first I thought there was just one bird but soon discovered that there was three baby birds in the nest. I was kind of surprised that it took me so long to notice them cause baby birds are by no means quite and I passed by the tree anytime I leave the house. Still I'm happy I got the chance to see them and watch them grow up. It was very interesting to see how fast they grew and the process of them going from balls of fluff to balls of  feathers.  It only took about a week in a half before I saw the baby birds leave the nest. The nest was empty for about a month until one day I saw another set of three baby robins plus a momma robin. I'm not sure if it was the same robin from the first time but I would like to believe that it is. Just like the first time it only took a few weeks before the baby birds left the nest. As of writing this, there have been no new baby birds an...

Into the Fox Hole?

Image
So, I'm going to be honest and just outright say it, I have no idea what this is. I think it's just a case of some overgrown roots of a tree getting expose due to erosion, but it could also be an animal den. As for what animal, I'm not hundred percent sure. My best guess would be a fox, but it could also be almost anything.  I didn't really have much of a reason for taking this photo. I just found it interesting so I thought I might as well capture a picture. When I was a little kid, I would always think about crawling inside one of these holes. I used to think that if I were to crawl in far enough, I would end up in an interesting world like wonderland from Alice in wonderland. Of course,   I never ended up actually crawling in, mainly because I was too scared that there might be a monster inside. Which worked out pretty well because even if there wasn't one it would still be a bad idea. Unfortunately, I don't have any fun facts today nor did I have much to sa...

A Wish Flower

Image
Ahh aren't dandelions just so much fun! The wonderful plant that could make all your wishes and dreams come true and all you have to do is successfully blow away all the seeds in one go. Who wouldn't love a plant like that. Unless your gardener, in which case this weed is the bane of your existence since it feels like no matter what you do this stupid weed never seems to go away. Like seriously one day you spend hours picking them out just for there to be two times as many in its place the very next day. Dandelions are everyone with as much as an inch of grass worst nightmare. Unfortunately love them or hate them there here to stay and there isn't anything anyone can do about it. Trust me I've tried. :| Anyways a bit about this photo, I was going on a walk when I spotted this little patch. I was going to pluck the remaining one and make a wish but decided instead to take a photo of it. (In case anyone was wondering I did pluck it after words, but my wish didn't end ...

A hungry catbird

Image
I'm really happy I was able to capture this photo. To be honest I'm not that big of a bird watcher nor do I know much about birds, but with that being said I find all birds very cute. I practically like big birds, but smalls ones are just as adorable. Here is a picture of a grey catbird with a berry in its mouth. I was very lucky that this little guy was so photogenic and was willing to hang out long enough that I could get my act together. I was just walking around in the woods when I spotted them, and I panicked trying to take my camera out of my bag. I was so worried that it would fly away that I started to plead with them not to move and asked it out loud to be nice. In hindsight that probably would have just made it fly away faster. In the end I was able to take quite a few photos before it flew away so it all worked out. Now then here are some fun facts: Grey Catbirds are named after the fact that they have a cat like call. In other words, there chirps can sometimes soun...

Ladybug(Test)

Image
Don't mind this post too much, I mainly using this post as a test. Here I have a cute Ladybug hanging out on a leaf. Did you know that Ladybugs were originally called Lady birds. I wonder why that is? :D  -Miss.Mundane
