A Puddling Butterfly

When it comes to the world of photography these two photos would be considered bad. Both lack good composition and the lighting isn't very good. In the world on insect photography it is also bad. Mainly due to the fact its hard to properly identify what type of butterfly is in these photos. After spending way to long trying to figure out the species, I have come to the conclusion that this is a pearl crescent butterfly. Though to be honest there is a very good chance my conclusion is wrong so feel free to correct me.

I believe these photos serve as a good reminder that at the end of the day I'm still an armature photographer. There not very good but that ok since I still find them interesting to look at. Normally it can be a bit tricky when trying to capture a photo of a butterfly. Luckily for me, this one decided it didn't feel like moving and allowed me to take a bunch of photos all from different angles. I wasn't originally going to post these photos but when I was looking through all the picture I had taken recently I notice the majority of them were photos of birds and decided I should try and mix things up a bit. Maybe when my photography skills improve I can find another Pearl Crescent Butterfly and take a photo of it. That way I can see how my skills have improved overtime.

Now time for some fun facts:

Pearl Crescent Butterflies are known to hang out in mineral rich mud or sand puddles. This is known as puddling which I find to be such a fun term for it.

Pearl Crescent Butterflies are hard to identify and often get confused with Northern Crescents and Tawny Crescents. To be honest I can't tell the difference what so ever, So I'm choosing to believe this one is a Pearl Crescent because I like the name better. Also apparently there is a debate whether or not the three are all actually just the same thing in which case it might not even matter.

Pearl Crescent Butterflies tend to symbolize creativity, fertility and new beginnings. Which in my opinion is an interesting combination.

Anyways that all for today's entry. I hope you these picture and see you next time.

Ps. The next entry is probably going to be another bird photo
